Cash Mob in the Grove Brings Residents Together to Care for Forest Grove Community

Forest Grove, OR – A Forest Grove group that initially began to support a local coffee stand is growing into something more.

It started when Helvi Smith, an artist who has a studio on Elm Street in Forest Grove and lives in Gaston, organized a cash mob last fall to encourage residents to spend money at Sugar Shack, a local espresso stand. It was Smith’s way of opposing Dream Girl Espresso, a newly opened “bikini barista” business in Forest Grove.

“It was a positive action to counteract the bikini baristas,” she said.
