How The Grommet’s Trying to Attract Mom-and-Pop Shops

One of the most challenging aspects an entrepreneur faces when owning a small business such as a boutique or gift shop is finding products that are guaranteed to sell, and that are also interesting and unique.

That’s where The Grommet comes in, says co-founder Joanne Domeniconi.

Since launching in 2008, The Grommet has featured more than 2,000 undiscovered small businesses and independent makers on its consumer-facing website, including those that have later skyrocketed in popularity such as IdeaPaint, FitBit and SodaStream.
