Coastal Town’s ‘Shop Local’ Push Aims to Boost Beach Business

Carolina Beach, NC – A new shop local effort hopes to boost year-round business on Pleasure Island.
About 40 businesses have bought into the Island Local initiative. They have posters in their store fronts, and some are selling branded t-shirts and stickers.
“We just want to remind [shoppers] that there is no reason to cross the bridge, that we have everything you need right here,” business owner Amy Sawyer said.
