Quilting is Cool at Middletown Shop

Middletown, NJ – A lifelong fan of sewing since her days growing up in Staten Island, Donna Painter remembers the stigma associated with the needle arts.

“Quilting was old-fashioned, not something you bragged about doing as a kid. So I was a self-taught, closet quilter,” she joked.

But with an increasing cultural emphasis on handcrafted items and a growing number of celebrities such as Marie Osmond, Sally Field and Martha Stewart drawing positive attention to the centuries-old pastime, “quilting has come out of the closet and it’s back!” Painter said.
