Heart on Main Street completes first Independent Rebuild Project
Heart on Main Street has completed its first-ever Independent Rebuild Project in Asheville, North Carolina.
Heart on Main Street, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting independent retailers impacted by natural disasters, has completed its first-ever Independent Rebuild Project in Asheville, North Carolina. Over three days, volunteers, community members and corporate partners came together to restore Dogwood Darlings Children’s Boutique, a locally owned independent retailer devastated by flooding from Hurricane Helene.
The project brought together 20 volunteers from across the country who contributed their time and talents to transform the store and support the business’s recovery. Together, the team:

- Repainted the boutique’s second-floor interior and refreshed the exterior trim
- Repaired damaged walls and fixtures
- Re-landscaped the storefront, creating a more inviting presence on the street
- Provided $5,000 in financial support to aid in recovery
- Delivered over $15,000 in product donations from vendor partners to replenish lost inventory
