Swoozie’s provides gifts and entertaining and party décor in two locations in North Carolina, Greensboro and Charlotte. Since its inception a decade ago, the business has grown to a total of seven retail stores across multiple states. Founded by Kelly Plank-Dworkin, the store provides convenience and solutions for the “woman-on-the-go.”
The business employs 150 individuals, known as crew members. “Every crew member serves as the foundation of this company — a company that is 95% women,” said Ashley O’Donnell, marketing representative for Swoozie’s.
The store is conducive for a quick “zoom in and zoom out” purchase of all things needed for an event or special occasion. “We want Swoozie’s to provide that opportunity to check multiple things off the list — while also serving as an opportunity to just explore, get inspired, and be happy,” said O’Donnell.
“Swoozie’s is the one-stop ‘party in a box!’ We strive to be that solution for our customers that still provides a retail experience that is the total package: wonderful customer service, unique merchandise and a space that just feels happy,” she explained. The store offers gift personalization on over 100 gifts, designer brands, exclusive gifts, gift wrapping services and even custom designed invitations created in-house by its graphic designer.
Swoozie’s also carries exclusive product designs for a well-curated mix. “Overall, we have such a variety because of our seasonality and ever-changing merchandising assortment. Part of the Swoozie’s magic is always finding something new when you come in,” she said.
At its core, Swoozie’s offers a promise of outstanding customer service, and a commitment to giving back to its communities. The business is involved with local charities and cancer research foundations. “These are the things that make us who we are,” O’Donnell said.
