Oak Park Merchants See Benefits of Shop-Local Holiday Promotion

Oak Park, IL – Downtown Oak Park doled out nearly $45,000 in rebates through its shop-local holiday promotion, putting this year’s effort on track with last year’s record numbers, according to the business association’s director.
During the holidays, the organization ran a Shopper’s Reward program that promised $50 rebates to any shopper who spent $400 at seven downtown businesses. As of Monday, Downtown Oak Park had doled out 891 rebates – totaling $44,550 – after shoppers used them at downtown businesses, Downtown Oak Park Executive Director Max Austin-Williams said. The redemption period runs through Feb. 15.
“It’s kind of become one of our hallmark programs for the year,” Austin-Williams said of the 15-year-old program.
