Rapunzel’s Celebrates 10th Milestone

Palm Beach, FL – Randi Evans was single and 26 when she opened her first island business, Rapunzel’s of Palm Beach, a Royal Poinciana Way gift shop, in September 2002.

Over the next decade, Evans married, changed her name to Siegal, became a mother of two and shifted the focus of her business from gifts to apparel for women and later, for children and so-called tweens.

And she took on a partner, former customer Hallie Rosenthal, whose parents live in the area, to help run the growing business.

Retail Sales Stay Steady for Halloween

Wichita, KS – This Halloween , retailers are expecting shoppers to spend eight billion dollars nationwide. That’s up one billion from last year. Local shop owners tell us, they’re cashing in this holiday.

“Night lights for my grandson and then a door hanger for a friend and a doormat,” says Marcia Nester, describing the list of things she’s purchased this season.

Her list is long. Simply put, Marcia Nester says she loves Halloween decorations, right down to the orange and black fingernail polish she has on as she pays for the newest items to add to her collection.

Surprise for Shopkeeper Pam Battley of Ma Battley’s Targeted by Community Cash Mob

Enfield Town, UK – A shopkeeper had the surprise of her life when she was set upon by a cash mob on Thursday afternoon.

Pam Battley, who owns Ma Battley’s sweet shop in Church Street, Enfield Town, was in the shop when a brass band and ten people waving £10 notes headed inside.

Ms Battley said: “It was absolutely amazing, I was shell shocked. It was wonderful.

Clarksville Cash Mob a Success

Clarksville, OH – After the payoff from the latest cash mob at Clarksville, organizers say they have heard from other local businesses interested in being mobbed.

A locally owned business in Clarksville, Unique Gifts & More on North First Street, reported their sales quadrupled that day compared to a normal Saturday.

“Also since the cash mob, I have noticed our normal walk-in traffic and sales have been heavier,” owner-operator Mike Rickman said this week. “That was definitely a plus-plus for us.”

Shop Has New Name, New Location

Fredericksburg, VA – IT WASN’T UNUSUAL for customers to tell Two Sisters Boutique’s owners that they’d driven by their shop at 1711 Princess Anne St. for years before stopping in.

Heather and Jim Stapleton expect to get more foot traffic when they reopen the accessories and gift shop with a new name, Heather Boutique, on Monday at 721 Caroline St. in downtown Fredericksburg.

“It was time to do it,” said Heather Stapleton. “It was time to change the name and make it our own.”
