Northwest Glass Designs Introduces Three Great New Products
These three new items are a must-have for your fourth quarter inventory. Our first new product is the beautiful Hunter Cold Brew Coffee Maker. It is the third model in our series of cold brew coffee makers. It features a stylish wood base and handle with 24 oz capacity. The glass lid serves as a holder for the top when brewing is completed.
NEXT is the 20 oz Ellie Glass Tea Pot. It is specially designed for brewing big-leafed oolong tea. The Ellie pot is microwave safe and very easy to clean.

Yesterday, the Mercury launched its I Love Local Shops campaign. It aims to shout about the best independent shops in the city and counties.
For the next six weeks, we will be highlighting independent shops and urging readers to use them so they do not disappear for good.
We visited Francis Street, in Stoneygate, Leicester, to see why it is one of the most famous in the city for shopping.
Boutique Clothing Store Opens
Lexington, NC – The final Uptown Lexington Inc. Summer Stroll brought a new business to town.
A Belle Boutique, a contemporary vintage clothing and accessories shop, opened Friday after several months of running the business out of a home.
Shelli Everhart began the business because of a love of fashion. In February, she began purchasing clothing lines, promoting her business through Facebook. Originally, the business was just supposed to be an online store but it became popular and grew too large. Within the span of six months, the need for more space was apparent.

Creative Co-Op was the winner of the inaugural Retailers’ Choice Manufacturer of the Year award presented in conjunction with Gifts and Decorative Accessories Retailer Excellence Awards gala. Finalists were named from a national survey of retailers, who were asked to nominate their top vendors based on sales, quality of service and support, and quality and appeal of merchandise.

North Brookfield, MA – What made you decide to open a cross-stitch shop?
“I started stitching in 1993. I was a housewife and Gary worked full time. In 2004, we lived in Montoursville, Pa., and a little hole-in-the-wall shop came up for rent. Gary rented it for us to open a candle and gift shop. I had been making candles and other crafts and selling them at shows and doing pretty well. I agreed, but I told him only if we could carry cross-stitch. Gary thought the candles would cover the costs of the cross-stitch, but that’s not how it worked out.

Edmonton Show Offers Sneak Peek at Holiday Season’s Hot Gifts
Edmonton, AB – Western Canadian retailers started searching for the Holy Grail in Edmonton this week.
That elusive item — also known as the holiday shopping season’s next big thing — may be among the wares that more than 500 distributors and wholesalers are showcasing at the Alberta Gift Show.
The semi-annual event, which started Sunday and runs through Wednesday at the Northlands Expo Centre, is expected to attract 13,000 buyers such as gift shops, souvenir stores, toy outlets and other retailers.

Tax-Free Holiday Good for Retailers
Denton, TX – Though the state’s tax-free weekend came and went quickly, retailers say results were positive overall.
Consumer traffic was consistent throughout the three-day tax break for back-to-school shopping, which kept retailers occupied, as expected.
Jackie Varney, an employee at Courthouse Collection on West Hickory Street, said the weekend went pretty well at the clothing and gift shop Friday and Saturday.
Many took advantage of the holiday to save sales taxes on clothing and footwear that cost less than $100, she said.
Savory Spice Shop Opening in Encinitas Next Month

“This is about getting in the kitchen with your family and friends and bringing it back to the kitchen table,” says owner Stephanie Godfrey, who is opening the store with her husband Jason Birn.
Growing Back After The Storm
Ocala, FL – On June 25, standing ankle deep in the floodwaters and fighting back tears, a discouraged Lacy Rome moved inventory out of Grow Children’s Boutique, not knowing what the future would hold for her month-old shop on Broadway Street. Her mother, Jo Ann Roberson, predicted Rome would start over again. Her mother was right.
On Friday, Rome and her husband, Andrew, reopened the children’s shop at a new downtown location, 21 E. Fort King St.
“We love the location,” Lacy Rome said.
