Dogeared Jewels & Gifts Presents New GIFTS TO GO Collection

Dogeared Jewels & Gifts, a trendsetting fashion brand known for innovative designs and a cool California aesthetic, is presenting its new Gifts To Go collection at the summer trade shows. Each piece of jewelry comes nestled in a custom decorative gift box. Nepalese women handcraft the box’s gift-paper lining from Lokta bark, using an ancient, eco-friendly technique.

The collection of bracelets, rings, and earrings are handmade in the USA using leather, gemstones, rhinestones, hematine, chain, sterling, gold, rose gold, and charcoal sterling.

Roman Signs Leasing Agreement in the Las Vegas World Market Center

Roman will unveil their newest corporate showroom in the Las Vegas World Market Center in January 2013.

Roman has leased a space on the eighth-floor of building C to showcase Roman, Cottage Garden and Alexa’s Angels product. “We have kept a close eye over the past several years on the developing market in Las Vegas, and believe the timing is right to open a corporate showroom there,” states Dan Loughman, Roman’s President/CEO. Roman maintains corporate showrooms in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas and Minneapolis, and will be closing its Los Angeles showroom in the fall of 2012.

Time to Give

Marshall, MN – Every scarf and piece of jewelry patrons buy at the Avera Marshall Auxiliary Gift Shop at the Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center provides enjoyment for the buyer in the item itself and it also contributes to a bigger cause – buying much needed medical equipment for the hospital.

There are no payroll costs in this shop – all the volunteers freely give of their time.

“It’s a good service for the hospital,” said volunteer Coleen Frye.

Indies Urged to ‘Celebrate an Independent Christmas’

The organisers of Independent Retailer Month, the global ‘Shop Local’ campaign which ran throughout July, have launched a UK spin-off event calling for independent retailers to ‘Celebrate an Independent Christmas’.

The seasonal campaign will run for the six weeks prior to December 25, from November 12. Consumers will be encouraged to spend a proportion of their Christmas budgets – be that on gift and food shopping, partying or pampering – with local, independent businesses.

Pendleton, SC – Kathy Smiley hadn’t planned on staying at The Mercantile, a shop in downtown Pendleton, for very long Thursday.

A Shopping Adventure

Portsmouth, NH – Ten Thousand Villages, the newest Portsmouth shop, has an uncommon model. TTV is a fair-trade, nonprofit retail business that selects handmade items from around the world, sold in the U.S. by paid and volunteer staff.

Ten Thousand Villages opened on July 27, at 87 Congress St., and held its grand opening event this past Friday.

“Basically, we sell home-décor gift items, jewelry and accessories,” said assistant manager Debbie Lizama. “We have a really wide variety here.”

Chambers Unite in ‘Buy Local’ Campaign

Northwest, IN – Chambers of commerce across the region are teaming up to launch a multimedia campaign telling consumers “It Pays to Buy Local.”

“It’s all about educating the public about the importance of buying locally versus at a big box store or online,” said Crossroads Regional Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Sue Reed.

In all, 17 Northwest Indiana chambers of commerce have signed on so far to be part of the “It Pays to Buy Local” campaign, Reed said.
