‘Secret’ survey finds shops lacking
A secret survey of three major Sydney shopping centres has uncovered a number of key areas for improvement in current retailing practices.
Store signage, layout and cleanliness together with shop attendants’ presentation, product knowledge and initial approach to customers were all highlighted the survey, conducted on behalf of Reed Gift Fairs into today’s shopping experience.
‘Mystery’ shoppers visited selected stores, and ranked their experiences against set criteria, in centres in Paddington/Darlinghurst; Westfield Chatswood and Westfield Parramatta.

When it comes to this game, firm’s executives know the drill
When a close friend gave Gary Fewell a board game called Wildcatter, based on the oil and gas industry, he was more than mildly intrigued.
By the time he played the game with his teenage son, in perhaps a mismatch, the chief executive of DFW Genesis Energy Group began thinking of it more as a potential investment than as a fun gift.
“It’s become one of the things that the two of us do together a couple of times a week where we actually interact,” Fewell said. “When we play the game, we spend two to three hours together.

“We look 100 percent better down here than we did a year ago,” Old Town merchant Pam Collins said.

Ramsey, 55, a Stafford Springs, Conn., native who lives in Monson, opened the store in May. But the idea spent a long time percolating.

Halloween has expanded its reach in recent years, stretching from a one-day give-me-candy-or-else feast to a monthlong celebration of everything creepy and cute.
