Peanut Shoppe Will Move a Few Blocks, Expecting More Foot Traffic

Columbus, OH – When they hear the news, almost everyone immediately asks the same question: “Is he going with you?”

The “he” is Mr. Peanut, and the answer is yes.

The famed sign featuring the monocle- and top-hat-wearing mascot above the Peanut Shoppe at 46 N. High St. will have a new home when the store relocates to the Fifth Third Center at State and High streets.

“We can’t go without him,” said Pat Stone, 58, who has owned the nut and candy shop since 1996 with her husband, Mike, 60, and like so many others refers to the Planters mascot as if it were human.
