Sebastian business owner sees decorated flamingos as offbeat tourist draw

Sebastian, FL – Pink flamingos.

Lisanne Robinson believes they are the ticket for her new gift shop — and, by extension, Sebastian — to become a destination for tourists in search of offbeat attractions.

The pink flamingos inside the Beyond Useless Boutique are not the iconic yard ornaments from a few decades ago. Rather, they are mini-versions, decorated in a way that’s sure to make you smile.

At last count, she had more than 40 on display. Many more are expected to be returned in the coming weeks.

The pink flamingos inside the Beyond Useless Boutique are not the iconic yard ornaments from a few decades ago. Rather, they are mini-versions, decorated in a way that’s sure to make you smile.

At last count, she had more than 40 on display. Many more are expected to be returned in the coming weeks.

“I got everyone I know to decorate them,” she said.

She also invited local businesses to join in the fun.

All of the decorated birds have a name — most with “ingo” (as in, “flamingo”) somewhere within.
