Shop Offers More Than The Same Old Same Old

Copperas Cove, TX – No dust clings to the collectables and valuables filling Rich’s Antiques and Shabby Chic’s shop floor. Instead, the building is filled with smiling employees, pleasant smells and spotless items tattered only by age.

Located on North First Street in Copperas Cove, Rich’s Antiques and Shabby Chic has provided a different take on the traditional antiques and gift shop since 2009.

“We’re pretty eclectic here,” said shop assistant Liz Fobert. “We stock a lot of different items from prim, antiques, vintage, even up into the more modern.”

Fetch & Friskers Bakery Opens Its Second Bow-tique

Boerne, TX – Fetch & Friskers Barkery and Bow-tique is opening its second store in the San Antonio area.

Its newest store will be located at 701 S. Main Street in Boerne — just Northwest of San Antonio.

The second site is not too far from Fetch & Friskers’ inaugural store at 24200 I-10 West in Leon Springs. That facility opened in December 2011.

Entrepreneurial Spirit Alive and Well at Old Town Bluffton’s May River Toys

Bluffton, SC – After having a baby and finishing her MBA, Jaja Epps was ready to start her own business.

“My husband and I, we were looking for something to do that I could actually have the baby,” Epps said. “I didn”t want to go back to work full time, but I wanted to do something that I could have her at work but still be able to take care of the baby more often than just a regular job.”

The Bluffton resident and her husband, Christopher, saw a “For Rent” sign on Calhoun Street and jumped on the opportunity.

Family Sweetens City by Adding Taffy & Fudge Factory

Southport, NC – People who have visited beach towns along the Atlantic coast may have noticed one thing most of them had that Southport did not – a taffy and fudge factory. Mark and Diane Salyer noticed it right away when they moved down here 10 years ago. And they decided to do something about it.

Mark had often visited the Jersey shore when he was a bachelor, and he spent the summers with his family at various communities along the Carolina coast. Everyplace he could remember had a taffy shop.

American-Made Boutique Coming to Rye Ridge

Port Chester, NY – The Rye Ridge Shopping Center will soon have the first premium all American-made boutique in Westchseter County.

Domestic Dry Goods is a concept created by Erin Hinchey, who is also the leasing agent for the shopping center, they announced in a release this week.

“I had been looking for the ‘right’ home and gift store for some time,” Hinchey said. “I had such a precise idea of what I wanted – I decided to do it myself.

Summer Fancy Food Show Breaks Records

The 59th Summer Fancy Food Show broke records in exhibit space and attendance. At the end of the show, North America’s largest trade event for the specialty food industry, there was another record when exhibitors donated the most food ever to City Harvest, the show’s longtime charity of choice.

The show took place June 30 – July 2, 2013, at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York. The sold-out exhibit halls drew 24,100 buyers from top names in retailing and restaurants from the U.S.

Grand Opening of Argo Pharmacy and Gifts

Argo, AL – Argo Pharmacy and Gifts opened July 8. This new store found on Highway 11, brings pharmacy, gifts and coffee together for the best possible customer experience.

The decision to create Argo Pharmacy and Gifts came from Johnny Cleveland. Cleveland graduated from Auburn University and owns a pharmacy in Locust Fork, Alabama.

Cleveland had been looking for a location to open a new pharmacy in Argo when he found Sheila Lunsford. Lunsford is the former owner of “Peacocks in the Parlor,” an Argo gift store that closed in December 2012.

Moments in Time: What’s in Store at the Mission

San Juan Capistrano, CA – In 1919, Father St. John O’Sullivan opened up a ticket booth and gift shop at the front of the Mission to help raise money for a restoration project. Now, 94 years later, the historic Mission has come full circle to realize Fr. O’Sullivan’s dream.

Soy Candle Company Carves Out a Niche in Local Specialty Market

Bunnell, FL – Liz Borges never really thought about opening her own soy candle store. But after selling the natural product for several years, and with a gentle push from her husband, Rui, the couple jumped into the business with both feet.

The store, Chateau Delights, was opened in December at 2530 N. State Street in the Sebastian Plaza, Bunnell. Since then, the business has taken off beyond Borges” expectations.

“I never thought I”d be here,” she said. “We were playing around one day with wax and (Rui) decided I should start making candles.”
