Former Wiscasset Teacher Opens Business
Wiscasset, ME – When Tanya Pomerleau was ready to move her upscale consignment boutique out of the space she was renting in Bath, she found just what she was looking for at 510 Bath Road in Wiscasset.
The move came with the bonus of returning to a town she was already fond of.
Pomerleau, 35, of Woolwich, was a literacy specialist in Wiscasset schools for five years.
“People here care about their neighbors,” Pomerleau said. “Wiscasset gets a lot of tourists, which is always good for business.
Adams Natives Return Home to Open Vintage Traveler Home Decor Store
Adams, MA – A pair of town natives has moved back and put a dream into action by opening their own home decor shop on Park Street.
Paula and Chip Landry opened the Vintage Traveler at 43 Park St. last month and have enjoyed a steady stream of business ever since.
“Our purpose is twofold,” Paula Landry said. “We want to give something back to the community we grew up in — we’re not out to get rich — and we also love what we’re doing. We’re not the type to sit or go play golf all day.”
New Kind of Cash Mob Coming to Town
Jonesborough, TN – A successful marketing venture that encouraged people to shop locally in downtown Jonesborough last year is returning to Tennessee’s oldest town — sort of.
Last year, town leaders created a weekly cash mob series in which area residents and guests were encouraged to come to a specific store on a certain Saturday and spend $20 to be eligible for prize giveaways.
The shop local campaign saw some serious success each week, helping merchants make it through when construction on Main Street was causing economic woes for many of them.

Statham GPAC Gallery Shop Holds Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
Auburn, GA – A ribbon cutting recently was held at The Georgia Piedmont Arts Center’s gallery gift shop in downtown Statham.
Although the shop has been open about a month, the ribbon cutting ceremony was held as an official grand opening May 4.
The gift shop, located at 1906 Railroad Street, is housed inside Second Hand Rose Antique and Market Place.
The Georgia Piedmont Arts Center, or GPAC, is in Auburn at an old Victorian cottage. With just three rooms, GPAC President Kathleen Gill said the group could not give up a classroom in the cottage to dedicate it to a gift shop.
Roberta Martin Opens Twig Children’s Boutique
Bearden, TN – Bearden has a new children’s boutique, courtesy of Roberta Martin, wife of University of Tennessee men’s basketball coach Cuonzo Martin.
Roberta Martin opened Twig Children’s Boutique, 5036 Kingston Pike, on Tuesday. She said Friday that this is her first retail business after years working in the corporate world and she looks forward to something new.
“This is really a dream job for me,” she said.

Vintage Home Decor Shop Moves to La Grange
La Grange, IL – After three years as an online business and one year in Brookfield, a vintage shop is moving to La Grange.
Nest Vintage Modern opened May 4 at 26 S. La Grange Road, filling the spot vacated by Monday’s Child.
The store specializes in locally procured goods, including home furnishings and decor from the early 1900s through the mid-1960s.
