It’s All About Fragrance: Entrepreneurs Make Scrumptious Soaps

Midtown, TN – Customers of the small shop on Union Avenue next to Hollywood Feed and under French Rivera Spa can be forgiven for thinking it’s a bakery at first glance. Glass pedestals hold individually wrapped doughnuts, cookies, cupcakes, truffles, brownies, chocolate-covered strawberries and more.

A word to the wise: Don’t eat anything. The offerings are all about fragrance, not taste.

They’re soaps made by Brenda Jeter, one of the owners, to look like dessert and smell like chocolate, vanilla, chocolate mint, lemon, peppermint or strawberry.

33,000 Toy Buyers, Sellers expected at New York Toy Fair

More than 33,000 toy buyers and sellers are expected to come the the Javits Convention Center today through Wednesday for the annual New York Toy Fair.

Record numbers of attendees are expected at the show, which was largely unaffected by the weekend’s snowstorm because most attendees arrived in New York a day or more before the snow did.

The New York Toy Fair is where big toy manufacturers present their new spring and fall products to the media and where small and mid-size companies hope to catch the eye of toy buyers from Toys “R” Us, Target and Wal-Mart.

Summer Fancy Food Show Back in New York City

The Summer Fancy Food Show is returning to New York City, its longtime East Coast home. It will be held June 30 – July 2, 2013, at the newly-renovated Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.

In 2011 and 2012, the National Association for the Specialty Food Trade, Inc. (NASFT), the show’s owner and operator, relocated the event to the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C., during the renovations.
