Winter Fancy Food Show Opens in San Francisco
The 38th Winter Fancy Food Show opens today in San Francisco with sold-out exhibit halls filled with the latest in specialty foods and beverages from across the U.S. and around the world. It runs Jan. 20-22, 2013, at Moscone Center.
This year’s event features a keynote address by John Mackey, co-CEO and co-founder of Whole Foods Market, and the inaugural Leadership Awards from the National Association for the Specialty Food Trade, Inc., (NASFT), the show’s owner and operator.

Craftsman Now has Showroom in Dover
Dover, VT – Expert craftsman and woodworking entrepreneur Mark Sprague is setting up shop in a section of Dot’s Restaurant.
“I decided that as soon as this room became available, I might as well give it a shot and see what happens,” Sprague said.

Primo International Relocates Las Vegas Market Showroom
Whole-home source Primo International is relocating its Las Vegas Market showroom to space C-1412 for the Jan. 28 to Feb. 1 show.
The company had been showing in a similar, 18,000-square-foot space two floors lower in space C-1212 prior to this market.
In this new location, Primo International will enhance its product presentation to include more group settings and accessories, giving retailers “a better sense for how our products will look in their stores,” said John DeFalco, senior executive vice president.
Japanese Gift Shop Open in Montgomery
Montgomery, OH – At her new shop in Montgomery, Teruko Nesbitt sells high-end porcelain pottery, wrapping cloth and accessories from her native Japan.
Nesbitt opened Hanamiya Beautiful Japan gift shop in the historic Weller House, 7795 Cooper Road, in December.
Jeanne Houck of the Community Press reports:
“I always wanted a place to sell beautiful things from Japan to people here, but without this place it might not have happened,” Nesbitt said.

Ridgefield Store Owner Follows in her Grandfather’s Footsteps
Ridgefield, WA – Although several generations removed, Ridgefield’s Barbara Blystone is carrying on a legacy started by her grandfather who opened the first hardware store in Vancouver in 1905, selling tools, gardening materials and other necessities of the day from his small store on Main Street.
Four years later, he wanted to move five blocks farther north despite being told that it was way too far from the downtown for his customers.
