Business Q&A: Boutique Keeps Patrons’ Tastes in Mind
San Angelo, TX – When hawking their wares at out-of-town weekend festivals and rodeos became too arduous for Jerry and Melissa Warren, both full-time state employees, the couple decided to open a downtown boutique for the sake of simplicity.
Miskey’s, called after a nickname Melissa Warren’s brother gave her, opened in 2004. It moved to its current location, 4 E. Concho Ave., a little more than a year later.
Though the Warrens no longer have to travel every weekend, having two jobs isn’t easy, Melissa Warren admitted. That, she said, is where her mother, Linda Pate, comes in.

Green Gables, Desert Digs Take Permanent Showroom for Winter Las Vegas Market
Green Gables Furniture and Desert Digs Fine Furnishings will show together in a new permanent showroom at the winter Las Vegas Market, Jan. 28 to Feb. 1.
The 2,347-square-foot showroom, located in space B-130 at Las Vegas Market, will feature a wide assortment of rustic-styled case goods and occasional furniture from the two companies. For the past several markets, Green Gables has been showing in a temporary space in the Lodge Living area, a 25,000-square-foot showcase for outdoor-inspired furnishings, including western lodge, Sante Fe and desert living styles.

Local Artists Open Temporary Holiday Store in Newport News
Newport News, VA – Jo Harding knows just about everyone on the Peninsula, so why not partner with two good friends and open a temporary store for the holidays?
Harding, who calls herself an “art supporter” and often has been found in the likes of the Peninsula Fine Arts Center gift shop, recently opened Pop-Shop, an arts and “holiday surprises” store in the Hilton Village section of Newport News with her two friends, artists Crys Warlitner and Joelle Keffer.
The trio decided to open the store for a short period only, and Pop-Shop will close on Dec. 29.
