Shop til you drop?
Women prefer to shop alone.
While this will be good news to men, it was recently discovered that 89 percent of women say they are more pleasant shopping alone or with their children than with their partner, according to a recent study conducted by designer outlet chain McArthurGlen.
Fifty percent of those women admitted it drove them crazy when their boyfriend, fiance or husband looked bored or complained about shopping.
On the other hand, 35 percent of the men said that they were frustrated with their girlfriend, fiance or wife when she insists on visiting every store.
Jewish shop a rare find in Valley
Bethlehem | A Chile-born family who embraced their Jewish heritage just seven years ago has opened one of the Lehigh Valley’s most distinctive businesses.
To find anything akin to Yahrushalaim Israeli Gift Shop & Judaica at 514 W. Broad St. in the city means driving to New York or Philadelphia, according to Levi Arevalo, the 18-year-old son of shop owner Luz Maria Sepulveda.
The family moved to Bethlehem in 1998 and a few years later learned their ancestors had fled Spain, where the Inquisition banned Jews during the 15th century.
A Store Where Profit Comes Not in Dollars
At a small high-end children’s clothing and toy store on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, shirts for infants go for as much as $40 and sweaters for toddlers to first graders cost $40 to $70. But many parents in the area are well off and accustomed to paying those prices, according to the store’s operator, Marjorie Stern.
That gives her high hopes that this seven-month-old shop will thrive, though not for her profit. The store, A Time for Children, on Amsterdam Avenue near 84th Street, is owned by a family foundation that Ms.

New shop brings owners back from Florida
A new Pendleton gift shop owner retired backward — he moved to Indiana from Florida.
“I made a dumb promise,” Sonny Woods said jokingly. “Before we married, I told my wife I would bring her back home to Indiana after I retired. And she remembered.”
Sonny Woods and his wife, Vicki, recently opened Gifts From Hearthstead Way at 128 W. State St. in downtown Pendleton. Vicki Woods is an Anderson native who met her husband when she moved to Florida with her parents during high school.
She had always wanted a gift shop of her own.
Betty’s Gift Shop to Close
Minnesota — After 38 years in business Betty Rupp is taking down her shingle. Although she is selling out her gift shop business, Betty plans on keeping busy giving piano lessons at her home, something she has done since 1950, sewing, and selling Watkins products.
Betty and her late husband Reuben opened their first shop in what used to be Nimmefroh’s Barber Shop in 1970.
