Nationally Known Artist Visits Libertyville Gift Shop
Libertyville, IL – Nora Fleming, designer of the distinctive interchangeable platters and serving pieces appeared recently at How Impressive! a small, personalized gift shop at 326 N. Milwaukee Ave., Libertyville.
Fleming is nationally known and has been featured in the Neiman Marcus catalog. With a collection of over 100 toppers she was on hand in a local boutique, debuting her newest piece, the bread platter. Those who purchased a platter received it autographed with a free topper.
The event was not open to the public because of the demand.
‘Shop The Boulevard’ Campaign Continues Until June
Castro Valley, CA – Despite the dissolving of the Alameda County Redevelopment Agency and the Castro Valley Boulevard Streetscape project’s delayed completion date, the “Shop The Boulevard” campaign will continue on through June.
The $70,000 marketing campaign was implemented since last year to help bring much-needed business to local merchants who took a hit during the Streetscape construction.
According to Bill Lambert, the county’s Assistant Director of Economic Development, the “Shop CV Blvd” website remains under contract and operational until then.

Couple Opens Baby Boutique in Seminole Heights
Seminole Heights, FL – A baby boutique is moving onto a corner that shows off the best of Seminole Heights – its shaded oak trees and 1920s bungalows.
On June 2, The Nursery Experience will have its grand opening from noon to 6 p.m. in a small house at the corner of Central and Hanna avenues. The shop will offer paintings, baby items made by local crafters, and plants and accessories.
Crazy Ladyz Proves Sane, Expands
Ocean View, DE – In 2005, two businesswomen bought a small retail shop on Chincoteague Island to save it from going under.
Today, they’ve expanded two states northward and quit their corporate world jobs. Crazy Ladyz, the colorful retail shop that got its start in Chincoteague, now boasts two full-blown boutiques in West Ocean City and Ocean View.
Louise Reardon, who owns the shop with longtime friend Jan Patterson-Hohman, says they never expected to be where they are today.

How did you get started in the toy business?
My dad had a candy store in the Bronx, and I went into business with him when I was out of high school. I acquired the store in 1967, and turned it into a toy store. I had a total of seven stores at one time.
